Collins Bespoken

Winter Wardrobes: we aren't talking attire!

Well, kind of, we aren’t ….

I am being stubborn. The heating is not being switched on yet. It is only just October. However, I am sat writing this in my duvet coat, multiple layers and fingerless gloves because it is just plain chilly here, in Kent.

Wfh, there is the lure of warm duvets and quasi-hibernation-attempts. Most of us will have already switched from summer to winter wear. Which brings me onto bedrooms … what a link!

We share images of so many of our wonderful kitchens. However, our team members are skilled cabinet-designers and makers, and have designed and made some really beautiful bedroom furniture too. With the same attention to detail as they do our kitchens – Collins Bespoke wardrobe designs are fully planned and rendered.

From elegantly traditional Shaker-style wardrobes to modern and contemporary bedroom cupboards, our team has helped realise quite an accolade of custom-made bedroom furniture.

And, here are some of our favourite examples.

The Beaded Shaker

There is something quite special about the effect of beaded Shaker cabinetry in a room. The intricate detailing portrays luxury, and this beautiful dressing room epitomises just that. It provides perfect hanging space with enough drawers for the smaller things, and everything has been designed to be accessed easily.

Painted neutrally makes the dressing room seem larger and spacious: great for experimenting with an outfit’s best suited shoes. And, recreating natural outside light - important for a dressing room.

Neutral beaded Shaker-style bedroom cabinetry, and a bear on a chair - sounds like a children’s story.

Under-cabinet drawer space - we love that beading.

Window-seated storage - a dressing-room with a view.

We really do love the window seat, as well. With extra storage and making use of the awkward corner space. This is a lovely place to settle and relax.

We’ve opened up …

Walk-in wardrobe with open shelving and hanging

Dressing room, with open wardrobe and island seated area - and, a tropical theme. If only …

Dressing room furniture does need to be practical. It is often used frantically, in my home it is, while trying to pull together a last-minute outfit which has had to change because of the British weather’s indecisiveness.

The framework in this example is just as detailed. Of course, beautiful furniture is beautiful inside too - we make that a Collins Bespoke philosophy. This walk-in dressing space is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling cabinets with stained oak interiors, open hanging rails and shelves, making everything visible.

We love the pull-out shoe racks, especially.

But the main feature of this dressing room is its central display cabinet.

It is like a kitchen island, making use of the room’s floor space, and providing a place to sit and decide exactly what you will wear tonight!

A dressing-room island with its own elephant. Though I am equally mesmerised by the shoes.

Walk on by

Bespoke wardrobes are personally practical - being bespoke, they are ‘tailored’ to ‘suit’ your ‘style’. (On a pun-roll - must have been the coffee.)

Providing walkway storage between the bedroom and ensuite are these walnut-slatted cupboards, with mirrored grooves and a full-height door mirror. The deep rich colour of walnut is a really lovely colour in a bedroom.

Walk-through wardrobe in walnut, and a cheeky accessory: isn’t it fantastic!

We love walnut.

And, do you see the drawers?

Yes, we design and make free-standing furniture too. We’ll be publishing a feature soon, which is exciting.

But.

Bedroom furniture is not just for the sophisticated dressing room. Made to fit within some the trickiest angles, we love the colours used in these children’s rooms – and, who is to say they are solely for children?! The vibrance they provide on a dull day would give any adult room a lift.

Light green and Light Fury - parents will understand.

Rainbow cabinetry - which is your favourite?

And me, here, on a cold, Kent, autumnal day, I might move into the kids’ room and pretend …. 🌞

Thanks for sticking with me to the end.

Watch this space for some bed-sharing too 😉
