Creating the perfect Christmas Kitchen

It only feels like yesterday that I wrote a similar blog. How on earth has it been a year?

December has arrived which means I’m officially allowed to start talking about Christmas. Hooray! I think we all need a little extra Christmas spirit this year, don’t you?

I’ve been decorating our showroom today, which I absolutely love doing. Handcrafted bespoke cabinetry really does lend itself to pretty decorations. I’ll include some photos at the end of the blog!

Your kitchen is the heart of your home and around this time of year it’s definitely the most heavily trafficked room in the house. Decorating your kitchen doesn’t have to be tricky or extravagant, and just a few seasonal touches can transform the room into a family festive living-space.

So what are our top decoration ideas for 2019?

  • Baubles in a vase - yep, they’re not just for the tree!

This is the perfect way to bring different parts of your home together and to create a seamless Christmassy flow between rooms. I’d suggest using the same colour baubles that you have in your living-room. This is so on-trend and a real Instagram favourite. I’ve done it in the showroom this year, but I’ve picked out the colour of our island, which is another pretty option.

  • Winter Bowls - not for human consumption!

It’s Christmas popery! These are so simple and easy to create. Find yourself a pretty bowl and pop in a handful of warm winter ingredients - pinecones, chestnuts, dried fruit, cinnamon sticks, a sprig of holly…whatever you fancy.

  • Wreaths, sprigs and garlands - my favourite!

Last year, I wrote about bringing the outside in. This year, I’m doing it again! Garlands are traditional, beautiful and timeless. For me, they are the only way to decorate a mantle. Christmassy sprigs are a really pretty way to add greenery to open-shelving (or anywhere), just let them gently cascade down and intertwine them with your crockery. Indoor wreaths are another way to bring the outdoors in this Christmas. Whether your style is vintage, modern or traditional, home-made wreaths are wonderfully bespoke and can be personalised to match your interiors. We love wreaths. They are natural and earthy. Plus, creating them is a fun activity to enjoy with children, or friends (featuring festive cocktails)… the latter sounds easier.

Top tip: it’s not always doable to have real trees, garlands or wreaths in the home, especially with pets and little ones about. So, why not spruce your faux decs up a few fresh clippings, just to make them a little more fancy?

And, to make the day easier?

  • A Quooker Tap

I cannot stress this one enough. Boiling hot water taps are practical, efficient and quick. From super speedy tea-making, to veg prepping - you’ll want one of these. Honestly. Quooker taps are available in a variety of different designs, styles and finishes. Our customers love them!

  • Double Integrated Ovens

Fed up of food shuffling and playing oven Tetris every Christmas? If space allows, our customers often ask us to incorporate double integrated ovens into their design plan, which really comes in handy over the festive season. Keep the chef happy at Christmas - they deserve it.

  • Warming Tray

A must-have for dinner plates - you want those crispy roasties to stay hot, right?

  • Integrated Bins

Integrated kitchen bins provide a discreet alternative to the standard kitchen bin, which will enable you to avoid unsightly clutter, and perfectly house your separated paper, glass and plastic for recycling. Compartmented bins are ideal for busy households who are trying to help the environment as much as they possibly can. Christmas is no exception, in fact, you’re likely need it more.

  • Wine Cooler…

Does this even need a paragraph?

Anything else?

  • A Kitchen Island

Our bespoke kitchen islands are a great piece of social furniture. An island creates a hub for family to gather, friends to socialise and a place for informal snacks and bucks fizz to be devoured. An island can allow the cook of the house to socialise with friends and family when preparing Christmas dinner. Don’t neglect the chef!

  • Drink Cabinets

Having a drinks cabinet that is stocked with all your favourite tipples has certainly got to be the perfect way to host a party. The absolute epitome of style and wow-factor. Plus, a real talking point for your guests. A sociable spot to gather around, chat and be merry this party season. Of course, every cabinet designed and made here is bespoke – properly bespoke, as in, made with you in mind, naturally. Whether you opt for internal lighting, glass shelves or bi-folding doors – we design and make the cabinets to complement your style, while providing a timeless design feature and most of all - ready to entertain.

  • Recyclable Crackers and Wrapping Paper

Did you know that crackers and wrapping paper are not eco-friendly? Swap them for glitter-free recyclable ones for a more sustainable greener Christmas. Why not make you’re own? Brown paper packages tied up with string are really pretty too…thanks Julie Andrews!
